My favourite speech
Hey guys, I've got another assignment and its about my favourite speech. Well I've seen a lot of good speeches, stand up comedies and Barack Obama =), but this one is done very well. This video is about Don Mcmillain talking about what not to do in a powerpoint presentation. Not only is the message of the speech delivered to the audience, but the audience is also entertained at the same time. This is what makes this speech my favourite! If I were to deliver a speech in the future, I want to be able to entertain and be a great speaker just like him.

#5 Excercise
Hey guys, this is the last post of my English assignment. After this, I would probably change the title of my blog and make blogging a habit (Good or bad? I'm not sure). Anyways, on to my topic. Exercise. My fitness level is taking a steep dive and I can't stop it! I cannot run as fast as I used to, I am not as strong, and I'm getting a little "flabby in the pouch" if you know what I mean.

Anyway, lately I've been trying my best to get 'ripped'. Basically, I want to get 6-pack abs and muscular arms. I have been doing push-ups and sit-ups everyday, but there was no improvement. So I gave up. But one day when I met my cousin, who is a soccer player and has a solid 6-pack, thought me how to get my dream body. He said that ordinary sit-ups would not work and he taught me a new type of sit-up. I have been doing this everyday and I think it really works! I can feel each individual abdominal muscle tensing, which means its finally getting stronger! And every time I do these exercises, despite the pain, I enjoy doing them because I imagine myself with my dream body and know that someday I would get it if I keep doing these exercises. And when I do, I would laugh at everyone who made fun of my weak body! To speed up the process I am also going to join soccer classes. That way I can improve my soccer skills and be physically fit.

#4 Pregnant hamster really pregnant?
Hey guys, I'm sure you know about my hamsters Tic and The Late Tac. As stated in my previous post, Tic chased Tac and killed him. After that incident, Tic started to gather bedding and stuff it into her house. When i attempted to take out the bedding and spread it around the cage, the usually friendly Tic, ran all the way to my hand and stood on her hind legs, barring her teeth and making a threatening whirring noise. She was defending that pile of bedding. Also, she started to take out more food than needed from her food bowl and bring it to the house, stuffing it under the bedding. As I pondered about her strange actions, a thought struck me. The more I thought about it, the more the puzzles started to fit into place like a jig-saw. Tic was pregnant!!! I did my research to find out more, and the internet confirmed my suspicions. Anyway, I'll go through the clues one by one. 1st: Tic chased Tac away because she was pregnant. Common hamster behaviour. After mating, the female hamster would chase away the male hamster, either because she does not want the male hamster to mate again, or because she does not want the father to eat the babies. Clue number 2: She stuffed the bedding in the house because she was building a nest! Also, the stored food is to feed the new-born babies. Clue number 3: The way she defended her nest was very aggressive! She wanted a safe undisturbed nest for the babies. So anyway, after playing Sherlock Holmes, up to now, I have been thinking that Tic is going to be a mom. But today, my cousin said that she could just be storing food, and building a nest for winter. I'd never thought of that because Singapore was one season all year round! So could Tic really be just preparing for the winter that would never come? After all, she is a Russian Winter Hamster. Their natural environment is a cold snowy place! Well, the gestation period of a hamster is about a month, so if after a month, nothing happens, then I would just buy a couple of new hamsters to play with her in case she feels lonely.

#2 Obsession for badgers
Hey, guys, did you know I have an obsession for Badgers? You may have seen badgers all over my blog, so I'm gonna' tell you guys about it. I find them really cute and furry. But of course, they are wild and dangerous. ( But I still love them! =) ) They are nocturnal mammals. Watch this video, it's about cartoon badgers on the top of my post. Its hilarious, and this is the video that contributed to my obsession! Just look at the way they dance!! In case you want to know what a real badger looks like, it's on the top of this post. Its also on the top of my blog. I wish I could keep one as a pet. I would cuddle with it everyday, and if I tame it not to be too wild, it really would be the pest pet ever! Even before I watched the video, I was interested in Badgers, because I read a book, which became my favourite book. It was called the wind in the willows. It is a beautiful book about a mole, a badger, and a frog, if i remember correctly. Here is a short part of the book: http://www.online-literature.com/grahame/windwillows/ . Also it is written in very good vocabulary for the young ones. Anyway, the badger was one of the characters, and I saw the picture of him in the book. The badger looked rather peculiar, a cross between a weasel and a bunny-dog thing! When I came across the video of the dancing badgers, I fell in love with the "weasel bunny-dog thing". According to wikipedia, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badger), they do belong in the weasel family, but upon further investigation they found out that they actually belong in the skunk family! Well, it does'nt matter where it belongs, a badger is a badger and I love them!!!!!!

Pets
Hey guys, I'm feeling much better today. Over the weekend I was thinking all about pets, and now I'm happy that at least I still have my pet cat, Ginger Boy, and my other hamster Tic. I was talking with my family about pets and now I wish I have the PERFECT pet. Something cuddly and big like a Koala bear, but allowed in Singapore. Besides cats, dogs, fish, rodents, certain birds and reptiles, everything else is illegal to keep (and obviously hard to keep too!). A guinea pig would be nice to keep, but according to the pet shop, they are scared of everything (apparently worse than hamsters). And probably once they see my cat, they would die of a heart attack. Also they don't like to be handled it seems. I saw the adult guinea pig in the shop and it looked like it would die any second. Its eyes kept darting around and it kept running away when the shop worker tried to pet it. But if I raise it from a baby, would it still be afraid? Please leave comments! =)

#1 Death Of Pet Hamster
Hey guys, I always look forward to the weekends, but this weekend, I am extremely sad. I'm sure you would figure out why from the title. Just a couple of weeks ago I bought two new hamsters. Their names were Tic(female) and Tac(male). I wanted to make their lives as luxurious as possible, I bought them hamster balls, chew toys, nutritious food, igloo sleeping places, etc. Their house even had 4 stories!! I loved playing with them, they were so cute and furry. Tic would always fight with Tac, but I did not want to separate them, as I thought it would not be that serious. But just yesterday, as I opened the cage to play with them, I found Tac dead, covered in blood. He probably had both internal and external injuries as blood stained his teeth, lips and paws. (sorry for the gross descriptions). I miss him so much. I wish I was a better hamster keeper, I should have separated them from the start. He was probably killed by Tic. I cried for a while, but then I got better, but I still don't feel like smiling at all. I guess I'll be down in the dumps for a while now. Anyway, I have learned my lesson and next time I will be more careful when it comes to keeping pets. May Tac's soul rest in peace.
